Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website operators.
2. Cookies we use
Case Buddy uses a minimal number of cookies:
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Essential | Supabase authentication — keeps you signed in | Session |
| cb_cookie_consent | Essential | Stores your cookie consent preference | 1 year |
| ph_* | Analytics | PostHog product analytics — helps us understand how the service is used (anonymised) | 1 year |
3. Essential cookies
Essential cookies are necessary for the Service to function. They enable core functionality such as authentication and remembering your cookie preferences. These cookies cannot be disabled without breaking the Service. Under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), essential cookies do not require consent.
4. Analytics cookies
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog helps us understand how people use Case Buddy so we can improve the service. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Analytics cookies are only set if you click “Accept All” on the cookie consent banner. If you click “Reject Non-Essential”, no analytics cookies are set and no usage data is collected.
PostHog processes data in accordance with their privacy policy. We use PostHog’s “identified only” mode, which means anonymous visitors are not tracked — only users who have created an account and are logged in.
5. We do NOT use
- ✕ Advertising or retargeting cookies
- ✕ Third-party social media tracking pixels
- ✕ Cross-site tracking cookies
- ✕ Cookies that sell or share your data with third parties
6. Managing cookies
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site — the consent banner will appear again.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to the Service.
