Terms of Service

Important — please read this first

Case Buddy provides legal information, not legal advice. Nothing on this platform creates a solicitor-client relationship. AI-generated responses are based on general principles of English and Welsh law and may not reflect your specific circumstances. For advice specific to your situation, always consult a qualified solicitor.

1. Service description

Case Buddy is an AI-powered legal information platform that helps users understand their rights under the law of England and Wales. The Service covers employment law, housing and tenancy law, and debt recovery and small claims. It includes an AI Legal Information Assistant, document analysis tools, document generation (formal letter templates), deadline tracking, case law research, interactive legal tools, and a solicitor referral service.

The Service is available to residents of England and Wales only. It is not designed for, and we make no representations regarding, the law of Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any other jurisdiction.

2. Eligibility

To use Case Buddy, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a resident of England or Wales.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts where eligibility cannot be verified.

3. Free tier limits

Free accounts include the following allowances per calendar month:

  • 3 AI queries per month.
  • 1 document analysis per month.

Usage limits reset on the first day of each calendar month. Unused allowances do not roll over. Upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited access.

4. Subscriptions and billing

  • Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically unless cancelled.
  • You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • No refunds are provided for partial months. Once a billing period has begun, that month’s subscription fee is non-refundable.
  • We reserve the right to change prices. We will give at least 30 days’ notice before any price increase takes effect.

5. Solicitor referrals

Case Buddy is a referral platform, not a law firm. We are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and do not provide legal services as defined by the Legal Services Act 2007.

Solicitors listed on our platform are independent legal professionals regulated by the SRA. Case Buddy does not supervise, endorse, or guarantee the services provided by any referred solicitor. Any solicitor-client relationship you form is solely between you and that solicitor.

In the interest of transparency: Case Buddy charges a 15% referral fee to solicitors for each successful client introduction. This fee is paid by the solicitor and does not affect the rate you are quoted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
  • Submit another person’s personal data or documents without their explicit, informed consent.
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform.
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits through multiple accounts or technical means.
  • Use the Service in a manner that violates any applicable law or regulation.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that breach these terms without notice or refund.

7. Intellectual property

Your content — you retain all ownership rights in the documents, messages, and other content you submit to the Service. You grant Case Buddy a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

Platform IP — all rights in the Case Buddy platform, including its design, code, branding, and AI-generated outputs not derived from your content, are owned by Case Buddy or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the platform without our written consent.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by English law, Case Buddy’s total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service shall not exceed the total subscription fees paid by you in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for:

  • Any reliance placed on AI-generated legal information without independent legal advice.
  • The quality, outcome, or conduct of any referred solicitor.
  • Indirect, consequential, or loss-of-profit damages of any kind.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

9. Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
