Terms of Service

Important — please read this first
Case Buddy provides legal information, not legal advice. We are not a law firm and are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Nothing on this platform creates a solicitor-client relationship.
Legal information on this platform is generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude). While we maintain a verified legal knowledge base, AI-generated content may contain errors. Always verify information with a qualified solicitor before acting on it.
1. Service description
Case Buddy is an AI-powered legal information platform that helps users understand their rights under the law of England and Wales. The Service covers employment law, housing and tenancy law, and debt recovery and small claims. It includes an AI Legal Information Assistant, document analysis tools, document generation (formal letter templates), deadline tracking, case law research, interactive legal tools, and a solicitor referral service.
The Service is available to residents of England and Wales only. It is not designed for, and we make no representations regarding, the law of Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any other jurisdiction.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older to use this service. To use Case Buddy, you must also:
- •Be a resident of England or Wales.
- •Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts where eligibility cannot be verified.
3. AI processing and data
Your case conversations are processed by Anthropic’s Claude AI via their commercial API. Your data is not used for AI model training. API logs are retained for a maximum of 7 days and then automatically deleted.
While we maintain a verified legal knowledge base to improve the accuracy of AI responses, AI-generated content may still contain errors or omissions. You are solely responsible for verifying any information provided by the Service with a qualified legal professional before relying on it.
4. Free tier limits
Free accounts include the following allowances per case:
- •5 AI messages per case.
- •1 document review per case.
To unlock unlimited AI messages, document analysis, letter drafting, and more for a specific case, purchase an AI Legal Guidance upgrade for that case.
5. Pricing and payments
- •£29 per case for AI Legal Guidance — unlocks unlimited AI messages, document analysis, letter drafting, and case law research for that case.
- •£49 per case for Solicitor Connect (in addition to £29) — adds solicitor matching, AI case notes transfer, and priority solicitor access for that case.
- •Payments are one-time per case and non-refundable once the service has been accessed.
- •Each case purchase grants permanent access to that case’s features.
- •We reserve the right to change prices. We will give at least 30 days’ notice before any price increase takes effect.
6. Refund policy
If you have not yet used any paid features on a case, you may request a full refund within 14 days by contacting admin@casebuddy.co.uk. Once you have accessed any paid feature (e.g. sent an AI message or uploaded a document on a paid case), the payment becomes non-refundable.
7. Solicitor referrals
Case Buddy is a referral platform, not a law firm. We are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and do not provide legal services as defined by the Legal Services Act 2007.
Solicitors listed on our platform are independent legal professionals regulated by the SRA. Case Buddy does not supervise, endorse, or guarantee the services provided by any referred solicitor. Any solicitor-client relationship you form is solely between you and that solicitor.
When you use Solicitor Connect, Case Buddy receives a 15% referral fee from the solicitor. This is disclosed at the point of solicitor selection and does not affect the cost of your legal services.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- •Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- •Submit another person’s personal data or documents without their explicit, informed consent.
- •Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform.
- •Attempt to circumvent usage limits through multiple accounts or technical means.
- •Use the Service in a manner that violates any applicable law or regulation.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that breach these terms without notice or refund.
9. Intellectual property
Your content— you retain all ownership rights in the documents, messages, and other content you submit to the Service. You grant Case Buddy a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
Platform IP— all rights in the Case Buddy platform, including its design, code, branding, and AI-generated outputs not derived from your content, are owned by Case Buddy or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the platform without our written consent.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Case Buddy shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or expense arising from reliance on AI-generated legal information. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant case.
We are not liable for:
- •Any reliance placed on AI-generated legal information without independent legal advice.
- •The quality, outcome, or conduct of any referred solicitor.
- •Indirect, consequential, or loss-of-profit damages of any kind.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
11. Data protection
We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your data is protected under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, or port your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@casebuddy.co.uk.
12. Governing law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
